Peter Jackson's Dead Alive (Brain Dead)

edited November 1999 in Movie Discussion
This is a classic movie, and along with the "Frighteners" helped get PJ his start. Basically, it has the regular B movie plot, having to do with an evil, diseased Rat Monkey that infects you with a zombifying disease if you are scratched by it. This disease spreads through a small town in New Zealand, and chaos ensues. What does everybody think of this movie?

  • I love it!
The corny style of the close ups are my favorites.
The actor is also great and is like a New Zealand version of Bruce Campbell (a little less cool)

Also seen "Meet the Feebles" and "Bad Taste"?
  • "Meet the Feebles" is one of my all-time favorites, along with "Dead Alive". There's just something about a cockroach making basement porn with a cow and rabbits addicted to drugs that makes me happy.
  • I honestly think Heavenly Creatures from 1994 was Jackson's last really good film. Sorry "Lord of the Rings" fans, but I'll take his early stuff over the big, bloated blockbusters any time.
